I can count the number of things I like unironically on one hand, and this combines two of my favorites: punk rock, for the 'fuck you' factor, and lounge music, because it reminds me of a time where men wore suits and everyone smoked inside and women stayed home and cars weren't ugly pieces of shit. Basically these are the two 'coolest' genres of music for white people because they encourage you to sit around the be smug.
Basically it's a bunch of older punks (I believe. I couldn't dig up anything on this band or album. This is coming from last.fm) covering west cost hardcore classics. Think Nouvelle Vague but with punk rock instead of new wave and about ten years earlier. I was surprised how pretty the album is. I first heard this band (two songs or so) about 5 years on KaZaA (remember that shit? goooood times.) during a search for Black Flag songs. For no reason I can think of, I remembered them tonight and felt compelled to share them with you.
It is a cover album, so being familiar with the songs helps, but it isn't that essential. "I Shot JFK" and TSOL's "Code Blue" are my favorite songs from the album. If you've never heard the original "Code Blue" listen to it first.
Overall it's good. The album is too short and feels slightly incomplete, but other than that, 8/10.
